This Peking Chinese rug was handwoven in Eastern China during the turn of the 20th century.
It features an expansive chocolate ground worn in many areas to the white cotton foundation. A central medallion is composed of a coin motif surrounded by scrolling vines in black, blue, and white. The same scrolled vines can be seen in each cornice of the otherwise unadorned field. A lively blue main border showcasing flying birds and blooming flowers that almost appear to sway with the wind.
In good condition - with even wear throughout the pile exposing the foundation but still structurally sound with no holes, the edges are intact and durable.
